Sacred Heart Church is administered by the Franciscan Friars Order of Friars Minor, Province of the Immaculate Conception. The Franciscan Friars of Sacred Heart Church work tirelessly to provide meaningful worship, opportunities for spiritual development and to build fellowship among the faithful they serve. 

This vibrant faith community has many opportunities for those who seek to serve the needs of others, serve in parish ministry or share their gifts to serve the needs of others. With more than twenty ministries, organizations, service and justice programs as well as an active Religious Education and Youth Ministry, there are many opportunities for everyone to get involved. Sacred Heart Church is home to more than 3,500 individuals, 1,300 family/households. We invite everyone to be part of our growing church family!

Covid-19 Updates Regarding Parish Ministries and Liturgies

 
The following are based on the directives we have received from the Archdiocese of Boston as of 3/13/2020:
 
  • All Masses and religious services in all Archdiocesan parishes, missions, and campus ministries are suspended until further notice. This begins at 4:00pm on Saturday afternoon, March 14. To be clear there are to be no vigil masses.
  • Baptism, Confirmations, weddings and funerals may proceed, but attendance should be limited to only immediate family.
  • The Cardinal has issued a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass during this time to the Catholics of the Archdiocese of Boston.
  • Faith Formation classes for students in ALL grades Pre-K thru 5, The Edge (Grade 6-8), R.O.C (Gr. 9&10), and Adult RCIA are cancelled through the end of the school year. *We will be in touch to schedule a time for textbook pick-up. 
  • The First Eucharist Workshop and Freshman Retreat are both cancelled. 
  • All parish prayer activities, event and programs are suspended including: Friday Stations with Benediction at 3PM, Soup & Stations at 6PM, Third Order of Mary, etc.

The following programs are not effected at this time:

  • The Parish Food Pantry will continue to serve the community. (See Food Pantry tab for details)
  • Our Holy Week and Easter Schedules will remain scheduled, but we will update this information as we continue to follow CDC updates and RCAB directives.
  • The Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation (and the respective rehearsals for both celebrations) will remain scheduled at this time. Should there be any changes or postponements we assure you that these Sacraments will still take place in the parish even it means pushing them into the summer or later.

NOTE: On weekends of Monday holidays (Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, etc.) there is no 6:00PM Sunday evening Mass.

Sacred Heart Church is an air conditioned building. During the summer months we advise bringing a light sweater or dressing in layers since it can get very cool in the church.         


Parking 

There is ample parking available at Sacred Heart Church. The main parking lot is accessible from Grove Street. A number of handicapped accessible parking spaces are available for those vehicles with placards.
